UPDATE: Fargo North Dakota Flooding 2009 HD

UPDATE: Red River Reaches Record High The rising Red River continues to cause statewide flooding, and YouNewsers continue to file reports from the flood zone. The river has swelled to over 40 feet - more than 22 feet above flood stage. According to the National Weather Service, the river could crest as high as 43 feet on Saturday. Water levels could remain high for up to a week. Fargo's main dike protects the city, which has more than 90000 residents, at the 43-foot level, and there's no time to raise the dike any higher. A breach Friday morning prompted mandatory evacuations for some areas of Fargo. National Guard troops are patrolling the dikes and patching them where needed to prevent a devastating flood, and officials have asked people to stay off of roads to keep streets clear for sandbag trucks.
